The sun shimmered above the land, sending sparkles to the creek that ran through a clearing. Crystal clear water shimmered, cascading over the small waterfall. One tree stood in the clearing, a large one at that. With the long grass waving at its base, the tree's branches held vivid leaves. Red, Orange, Yellow, Brown- All the colors of Leaf-Fall itself. There, shielded from the sun, dosed a young she-cat, no older than a newly made warrior. Light grey patterned her fur, and hazy blue eyes blessed her. Long tail drooping, dangling from the branch, her eyes were shut. Her limbs stretching out from her, she stretched, claws flexing at her paws' end.
Lazily, she rolled and fell from the tree, only to have all four paws touch the earth beneath her seconds later. As if in a trance, she padded over to the creek's edge, ignoring the lapping water. Crouching down with her tail tip twitching, she lapped up the cool water. Then, with her thirst quenched, she was completely refreshed. Padding through the water, her paws not seeming to mind the touch of the frozen water, she trod over to the waterfall, allowing the water to cascade over her. Chin turned up and tail elongated, her limbs did all they could in order to stretch while standing.
And, feeling the cool touch of the water soaking into her, her hazel blue eyes closed, unable to see the ripples in the water. Although the autumn breeze brought a chill, the young she-cat cared not. Lifting her head as high as possible, she turned her face to allow the water to run over her eyelids and her whiskers. Her long tail drooped no longer, as it was stretched straight back and allowed the water's refreshing touch. After an undisturbed moment, she opened her eyes, and walked to the shore. Then, dropping suddenly, she rolled about once, before settling with the waving grass cloaking her from sight. Scent and sound, however, still revealed her. Her chest rose and fell steadily, and she drifted off. Her name was Cinderhaze.

The grass rustled slightly as a small she-cat padded through it. Her size was of a young warrior, but her size would fool any cat. She was young, but not as young as her size showed. She had been deputy of AquaClan for 5 moons now, and a warrior 6 moons before that. Her sleek calico fur was well groomed. Her deep emerald green eyes sparkled in the sunlight as the scanned the area around the she-cat. Her small paws were all gently placed on the ground, her claws sheathed. Her breathing was calm, and she showed no worry, but was always aware of what lay around her. She sat by the stream and looked into it. The sunlight hitting the water made it sparkle as it had her eyes. She sat, her tail gently placed over her paws. Her tail had longer fur than the rest of her body, but not by much. She sat looking into the water, her mind filled with many thoughts. The She-cat started to groom herself again. Her ears still alert, listening to every sound. Her eyes still looked around her. Her tail tip twitched slightly. The wind changed direction, now it blew from the other side of the stream. She caught the scent of another cat. She stopped grooming and stood. Her jaws parted slightly she tried to scent the cat again. She didand set her paws each in the water gently and padded across the stream. She followed the scent and soon could hear the calm breathing of another cat. She stepped forward and soon could see the light gray she-cat. She watched in silence. The cat was sleeping. Her tail started twitching agan and she stepped out of the shelter of the grass and stood next to the she cat. It was Cindergaze. "Hey Cindergaze!" she mewed. Her name was Mistyheart.

Eyelids still closed, the young she-cat woke at the call of her name. Trying to recognize the voice that had called her, she called out the deputy's name. "Mistyheart?" Opening her eyes, Cinderhaze blinked up at the familiar she-cat. Lifting off of the ground, her grey shoulders touched the grass no longer. Though she was still half lying down, with her torso against the ground, body resting on her front legs, the warrior could see the entire clearing. Gaze flicking back to the deputy, a sudden worry burst into her mind. "Um, er... Am I in trouble?"
Perhaps she was supposed to be on a patrol or something? She shouldn't have stayed out the whole night. But she calmed down easily, true to her nature, and just looked up at the deputy, completely relaxed. The sound of the waterfall soothed her now, but she didn't drift off like last time. Paying attention to the soft pitter-patter, the she-cat closed her eyes momentarily, opening them only after she ermembered Mistyheart was still standing before her. Ripping her gaze from the moving water, she turned to her deputy. Rising to her paws, Cinderhaze shook off, stretching her legs one by one before arching her back. Then, when she finished, she sat down, tail folding neatly over her paws. Her hazy blue eyes looked straight at the cat before her, the gaze warm and friendly.

"You were out all night, and you were supposed to be on the dawn patrol." She mewed, then her gaze calmed "But you will be forgiven. You didn't cause too much trouble not coming back to camp. Things will move on." She sat wrapping her tail around her paws. She looked around, everything was beautiful this leaf-fall. The sound of the waterfall was relaxing, and she understood how Cindergaze easily dozed off out here, she probably would have if it had been her. The wind ruffled her fur slightly. The brown and orange paches on her back blended with the leaf-fall leaves. "Nice day isn't it?" she mewed.
(Terrible post!)

At the mention of her missed patrol, Cinderhaze lowered her head, ears pinned back. Looking up with her eyes, the she-cat meowed a soft, "Sorry... I forgot..." but she lifted her head up a few minutes later, listening to the deputy's words. Carefully, the warrior stood up and padded over to the stream. "It's a beautiful day," she said, gazing down at her reflection as her paw flicked forward to send ripples through her face. Smiling, she stepped into the stream, feeling the cool water rushing over her paws. Yes, it was a beautiful day, expecially for leaf-fall. The breeze shifted once more, blowing against Cinderhaze's thick neck fur. Lifting her head to allow it to get her chin aswell, the she-cat closed her eyes, only feeling. Shaking her head, she turned back to the deputy. "Aquaclan definately got the best share of land," she said with a smile, padding over to the familiar cat. Looking to the sky she noticed that it was already sunhigh. "Time passes fast out here," she commented, smiling as she looked around. The sound was beautiful, the drumming of the water and the russeling of the grass rubbing against other blades.

"Yes when your in a place like this, most other things are forgotten." Misty mewed, her green gaze watching Cinderhaze "Oh and, no other cat noticed. I only told them that they were on the patrol. I just sent another cat instead. Don't feel to bad." She mewed, kindness filled her gaze. She stood and looked to the sky "We should get back to camp." She mewed. Her whiskers lay flat against her face as the wind blew in her face. She closed her eyes and stood there for only a minute then turned back to Cinderhaze "We should hunt first."

The young cat turned to the deputy, her head dipped in agreement. "Yes, of course. We should gather the prey we can while they're out looking for food to store," she added, not meaning to sound like a show-off or a know-it-all, though it may seem like she was. Cinderhaze nodded, looking towards the stream one last time before giving the forest her full attention. Slinking forward, the she-cat crept into the forest, the back of her paw brushing the grass and leaves out of the way before her pad silently touched down. Her blue gaze locked on a squirrel, which was trying to crack an acorn against the root of a tree. Her tail tip twitched, but not in a big enough movement to get the squirrel's attention. Sneaking forward, she lunged when she got in range. Claws landing jsut short of the prey, she didn't hesitate before charging after it. Just before it got to the tree, Cinderhaze's powerful paw slammed it backwords, sending it into shock. The cat killed its prey quickly.

Mistyheart followed after and caught site of a rabbit. She crouched sneaking behind the rabbit. It didn't flinch as she came into a close range of it. She pounced and her shadow cast of the rabbit made it dart of. She ran after it slipping into the small places that it thought she could not reach. She caught up with it and soon had grabbed it and killed it. She set it down and scraped dirt over it to hide it as she scented the air for more prey, sure enough there was a mouse close by. She crouched low as she spotted the prey. This time it was an easier catch. She lifted her paw and set it on the small rodent just as it started to dart off. She then grabbed it and killed it. She placed it with the rabbit then looked towards the roots of a tree. A nice plump squirrel. She pounced and it darted up the tree. Mistystars sharp claws caught his tail and pulled it down and soon it was killed like the others. She picked her kill up and padded off to find Cinderhaze.

Using her paw, claws seathed so that the dirt didn't get caught in them, Cinderhaze scraped away some dirt to place her catch in it. Covering it with the soft earth, she turned to hear rain approaching. The clouds were rolling in, so Cinderhaze had to be quick. Opening her mouth to get a more accurate display of what prey was in the area, she drew in air. Sure enough, to her right the scent of a sparrow came to her. She didn't move, noticing instantly that the bird was looking right at her. In one quick movement, the she-cat leapt at the sparrow the second it turned away. Killing it quickly, she burried it right next to the squirrel, and went after several chipmunks gathered by acorns. Only returning with two, both rather plump, Cinderhaze dug up the other two pieces of prey and looked for Mistyheart. Perfect timing! As it turned out, the deputy was already heading towards her carrying prey. Cinderhaze picked up the kill in her jaws, carrying them towards her deputy.

Misty heart nodded seeing Cinderhaze. She had noticed the rain coming in. She flicked her tail to tell Cinderhaze to follow and headed towards camp, the prey still clamped tightly in her jaws. She set her paws on the ground lightly as she walked then stopped to see if Cinderhaze had followed.

Cinderhaze dipped her head to shoe that she understood the cat's meaning, stepping into place and following the deputy. Holding her prey in her jaws carefully, the she-cat tightened her grip enough to hold on better, but not puncture the prey's skin and release any more blood. When Mistyheart paused, Cinderhaze trotted a few steps forwad, catching up and then resuming her usual pace. The Aquaclan warrior padded towards the camp, ducking as they slipped through the bramble entrance. She dropped the prey in its proper pile before turning to the deputy. "Is there anything I should do?"

Mistyheart set the prey on the pile. She looked around camp, everything was calm, and the scent f rain was strong "It will rain soon." She mewed, not hearing what Cinderhaze had said. Her tail hung low and she was relaxed as she stood looking up at the dark clouds that began to fill the sky. She then looked at Cinderhaze, realizing she had said something "Go ahead and eat something." She mewed, and grabbed a squirrel for herself. She lay down an begand to eat it, not fast, but not very slowly. She thanked StarClan for good hunting, and prayed it would be good during leaf-bare.

Cinderhaze moved her cloudy blue gaze to the sky, watching as the rainclouds rolled in. Cinderhaze loved the rain. She drew in the scent, stepping forward and closing her eyes for a moment to focus better. Turning around, she barely heard Mistyheart mention something about eating. Nodding, she padded over towards the kill, grabbing one of the chipmunks she had caught earlier. Grateful for the good hunt, and thinking of her clan, she chose to leave the most plump chipmunk for the others. Perhaps one of the elders would like it. She rested herself onto the ground, putting the chipmunk between her paws as she began to eat. After every bite, she looked either to the sky, or around the camp, smiling at her clanmates as they passed. "We could use the rain, it will keep our streams running when leaf-bare sets in. The more water the harder to freeze," She commented, speaking to no one in particular, just herself.

After finishing the squirrel Mistyheart sat up and cleaned her face. She made sure the fur around her mouth was as white as before he ate, then continued to groom herself. Her tail was wrapped around her tiny paws, and her emerald eyes closed. She liked the rain, and what Cinderhaze had said was very true. A small drop of rain hit her between the ears. Then more started to fall, and as she looked up water fell in her eyes. She purred as the water hit her calico pelt. She looked at Cinderhaze, as the rain began to come down harder.

Cinderhaze took another bite of her chipmunk, finishing it after a few more bites and burrying the remains. She sat up, lifting her paw to her face and sending her tongue rasping over it. Switching paws, she began the same process before continuing on to her chest fur, and back on her hind legs. The rain started to fall, and the she-cat suddenly stopped cleaning herself. She looked up, watching as a drop landed on her nose. She chimed in, purring aswell. Standing up, she let the rain wash off her neck and back, spots where she coudn't reach herself. Smiling, she turned to the deputy, "We'll have a good leaf-bare this year," It was obvious that Aquaclan had no care whatsoever to whether or not Swampclan might need help. Instead, the clan was enjoying the rain, and sending thanks to Starclan for it, to top things off. How could Starclan answer both calls, when they conflict so much?

"SwampClan would think different." Mistyheart purred "They'll be wishing there was no rain, and the marsh will probably flood again. Their weakness is our gain!" She was mostly talking to herself as she stood and streched not bothered at all by the rain. Her fur was soaked and clug to her body making her look even smaller. The water was cold, but she was used to it. She lay down exposing her belly fur to the rain. It felt nice, but she didn't lay like that long and lay on her side relaxing.

Cinderhaze flopped to her side again, chin resting in a puddle of rain. She thought about what Mistyheart was saying, and listened with interest. "Yeah, they're probably worried to death. But then again, what do we have to gain but marsh? We can't hunt there," Cinderhaze offered, simply wanting to start a conversation with the deputy, or any cat at all for that matter. She rolled to the other side, now facing Mistyheart, and allowed the water to wash over her other side. Ears pinned forward so that the rainwater doesn't collect in her ears, Cinderhaze also had the advantage of being able to hear the cat infront of her easier.

Misty laughed "They go it means less enemies, though if SwampClan is destroyed, then there will only be 3 clans, and that wouldn't work well. But they probably are praying for their lives. The should move to higher ground." She mewed looking at Cinderhaze "They would if they weren't so mousebrained." Her emerald eyes showed her amusement as well as her tail twitching. Mistyheart had a brother in SwampClan though, and felt sympathy for him, and wished he would leave SwampClan and come to the safe AquaClan territory. She did not show her worry about her brother to the clan, and kept it secret.

Cinderhaze smiled, "If they were'nt so mousebrained, they would've picked a better territory in the first place, and then there wouldn't even be a problem with floods now," she added with laughter in her blue eyes. Whiskers twitching as she shook her head to keep from laughing, Cinderhaze couldn't remember a time that she'd had so much fun. Well, she always had fun making fun of Swampclan. Standing up, the she-cat looked towards the entrance, being sure that the bramble was sturdy enough to hold if Swampclan cats came bursting in begging for help. It'll hold. Lifting her head to the rain, she smiled. "I don't know how anyone could hate the rain," she said as she began to pur again. Tail raising as her back arched a bit, Cinderhaze slowly flopped back onto the soft, and wet, ground.

Mistyheart couldn't keep the worry from showing in her emerald gaze. She closed her eyes for a few seconds then opened them again. She wanted to know is Snowclaw was okay, but she wouldn't dare enter SwampClan territory. She did not say anything to Cinderhaze, afraid her worry would be found in her voice. She twitched her tail and hoped that would distract her from Snowclaw, but it didn't, he was her brother and it was a sibling's instinct to worry for the other.
